recently learned of a tragic situation in another part of the world: there are about 400 poorly-dressed and malnourished babies and children living in two orphanages in Kramatorsk, Ukraine. The first orphanage, Antoshka, houses infants and toddlers while the second, Roschitsa, houses orphans ages 4 to 9*. Their images haunt me. There is no other word for it. These babies and children have been in my head night and day.
Anthropologist Margaret Mead once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Let's be that small group of thoughtful, committed citizens!
